Training makes a world of difference

Although many businesses in the construction industry have a poor reputation for customer service, Earsdon Engineering has made service a top priority. With customers throughout the UK, it is vital for everyone in the company to be able to react appropriately to every business situation. As manufacturing processes have changed so dramatically with the availability of new technologies, Earsdon Engineering has embarked on a training programme for the workforce. As part of this initiative an increased workload meant that relying on a sole draughtsman was no longer viable, so seven staff attended an Autocad training course. This enabled them to modify and develop drawings as needed, speeding up the production process and introducing considerably more flexibility into the business

Exemplary Employees

An exemplary employee was discovered during an Autocad course. Chris, a 17 year old apprentice demonstrated such an aptitude for mathematics and Autocad that he is now on track as trainee apprentice Autocad draftsman.

Steve, another excellent employee who had left the fishing industry to be employed as a labourer. Following an adult craft apprenticeship scheme (ACE), and a period of continual assessment, Steve produced a portfolio of work achieving NVQ level 3. As a result Steve was promoted to being a chargehand.

Training has made a world of difference to the company. It has been the key to a transformation where everyone is enthusiastic and with new skills there is greater confidence and motivation. Earsdon Engineering’s training programme has given a great boost to a 3 year expansion plan. This will pave the way to a series of new initiatives, and even more employment opportunities.
